Ashish Shakya

Ashish Shakya was a prominent member of AIB (All India Bakchod), India’s edgiest comedy collective, known for pushing boundaries and redefining humor in the country. His contributions to AIB include involvement in high-profile projects such as AIB Knockout, India's first-ever comedy roast, which featured Bollywood A-listers like Karan Johar, Arjun Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh. 

He is known for his sharp wit and understated charm and has carved a distinctive niche in the Indian comedy scene. Initially venturing into the world of engineering, Shakya made a pivotal career shift in 2006, leaving behind his freshly minted engineering degree to become a full-time comedy writer—a decision for which the comedy community is immensely grateful. 

Ashish was also instrumental in ‘AIB Diwas’, an ambitious full-day open-air comedy show, and ‘AIB Presents Royal Turds’, a Bollywood-themed spoof award show. Additionally, Ashish co-helmed ‘On Air with AIB’, a satirical news show broadcast on prime-time television and Hotstar, further showcasing his versatility and ability to blend humor with current affairs.

Beyond his work with AIB, Ashish has made significant contributions to various platforms. His humor column, ‘The Blunder Years’, which ran for six years in ‘The Hindustan Times’, garnered a devoted readership and became a staple of witty commentary. 

He has also co-written the hit news comedy show ‘The Week That Wasn't with Cyrus’ Broacha on CNN-IBN. As a stand-up comedian, Ashish has performed hundreds of shows across India and internationally in Singapore, Dubai, Australia, and the UK.
